Same Day Surgery

The Same Day Surgery Center at The Diagnostic & Treatment Center offers an ever-increasing range of outpatient services in a comfortable and caring environment for patients, their families, and physicians alike. The center features the latest advances in equipment and instrumentation technology utilized in: Orthopedic, urological, including brachytherapy, gynecological, general, peripheral vascular, ear/nose/throat, oral, plastic, and gastroenterological surgeries and procedures.

Staffing opportunities include positions for medical assistants, patient coordinators, surgery schedulers, surgical technologists, gastrointestinal technologists, perianesthesia registered nurses, and perioperative registered nurses.

The Same Day Surgery Center houses two operating rooms and two endoscopy suites that are equipped for virtually all outpatient cases. Both the operating rooms and suites have spacious working conditions and pleasant outside views of the Weston Regional Medical Center.

Approximately one week prior to the day of surgery, a patient receives a phone call from one of the perianesthesia nurses to review pertinent medical history, review preoperative instructions, and answer any questions a patient may have about the surgical experience. If the nurse is unable to reach the patient, an informational packet is sent to the patient’s home detailing preoperative instructions and directions on how to locate the center on the campus.

Upon arrival to the Same Day Surgery Center, the patient is greeted by our welcoming waiting room staff, is discretely checked in for the procedure, and is taken back to a private room. Family and friends spend time in the relaxing lounge area watching television or reading current magazines and newspapers. If they are unable to wait, we will gladly contact them once the procedure is done and their loved one is ready to go home.

Postoperatively, the center’s staff will contact each patient to make sure that recovery is comfortable and safe in the patient’s own home without complication.
